Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.

From the team that brought fans Posthuman, Vengeance, Excavation Earth, a new addition, Posthuman Saga, is released on Kickstarter. Mighty Boards works to make beautifully crafted board games that evoke worlds and generate stories. They believe rules, stories, and the visuals and pieces that express them are key to create a great game boarding experience. Mighty Boards create innovative systems, gorgeous graphics, and top-quality game pieces.

Posthuman Saga launched on Kickstarter in May 2018 and smashed through their funding goal in 30 minutes. Over two dozen stretch goals were met, which added extra cards and pieces and added a linen finish on all cards. A solo game design by Jonathan Gilmour was also added, and more competitions were created. Mighty Boards kept backers updated throughout the campaign with stretch goal details and explanations between solo and team play. By the end of the campaign, 3,658 backers pledged $304,931 to help make this project come to life.

Players are set in a world where nature is reclaiming the planet, and the mutated offspring are working against them. Players are sent into uncharted Wilds to reach the Fortress and earn a safe place to live. Players venture into a weird and wonderful world with unknown threats at every turn. Players work to collect food, ammo, and weapons in order to survive. Throughout the game, players fight human and mutant enemies among a cast of strange and memorable characters. Throughout the game, stories force players to make choices that may or may not have consequences down the line. The game is a competitive and tactical survival adventure.

There are three modes: solo, 2-4 competitive, and Team Versus. To win, players need to earn reputation points by exploring the map of modular tiles and completing mission objectives. Posthuman Saga: Resistance Expansion takes players deeper into the Wilds to track down mutant slave trains carrying human captives. The expansion adds several new mechanics and a new way of scoring and winning the game. This new version of the game has completely changed from the first Posthuman. All components in Posthuman Saga are different from those of the original with the vast majority of characters and enemies are either new or have been re-drawn.
