Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.

Mighty Boards is the board game development studio that brought you Posthuman, Posthuman Saga, Vengeance, Excavation Earth, and Petrichor, among other titles. Their goal is to make beautiful games that evoke worlds and generate stories. They believe rules, stories, visuals, and pieces are key to a great gaming experience. Their latest game continues to show their innovation and focus on gorgeous graphics and top-quality game pieces.

Vengeance: Director’s Cut launched on Kickstarter in October 2019 and was fully funded within the first day. Mighty Boards shared their stretch goals and social stretch goals to backers. Stretch goals brought upgraded abilities and hero perks to the game set. New hero solo missions were also added. Several reviews of the game were posted, and Mighty Boards continued to thank its backers during the two-week campaign. At the end of the campaign, 925 backers pledged $56,557 to help bring this project to life.

Vengeance is a revenge movie in a box. Players get to be the hero that is out for revenge. Players develop their hero, track down those who wronged you, and lay vengeance in action-packed fight sequences. The competitive game can play 1-4 players and has over 81 sculpted miniatures.

To begin, players establish which games and bosses wronged them in a one-time draft. Players draft dice and select cards to heal damage, recon enemies, and develop their character by gaining abilities that set up powerful combinations in fight scenes. Players then have three rolls in three minutes to fight and kill off the boss and even clear the den. In the Director’s Cut, players can take on the role of a movie director, editing their opponents fight scenes on the fly to mess with their planned attacks. The game can also be played in solo-mode with a different mission and backstory for each hero.
