Game On” is a series in which we examine the companies, creators, and games in crowdfunding. We look at the journey, ideas, and concepts the creators wanted to bring to market with their product.

Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid comes from the team at Renegade Game Studios who believes gaming is for everyone and everyone is a gamer. Founded in 2014, by game enthusiast and industry veteran Scott Gaeta, Regnegade immediately began releasing award-winning games and produced over 100 games in just five years. Jonathan Ying is the designer behind Power Rangers; Heroes of the Grid. Ying is known for his work in Star Wars Imperial Assault, Doom: The Board Game, The Game of Thrones Trivia Game, and Bargain Quest, just to name a few. He prides himself in designing games that are easy to learn but intriguing and immersive to play. He is a huge fan of Power Rangers and brought his talent and his love of the brand into this most recent game.

Launched on Kickstarter in September 2019, Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid hit its funding goal in just 9 minutes! Throughout the campaign Renegade Game Studios introduced its backers to each Power Ranger and even did a spotlight on the artist for the game. By the end of the campaign 2,684 backers pledged $269,802 to help bring this project to life.

Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid is a cooperative board game that players work together to fight off incoming villains who are trying to take over the world. Each Power Ranger comes with its own unique combat deck and players can mix and match Ranger teams, villains and game boards for endless replay-ability.

The game incorporates miniatures, art, and game play that is inspired by the hit TV show and comic book series. Set up begins with a command center and randomly placed four location boards around the command center. Each player gets to choose a ranger, their character card and 10 combat cards. The game can end one of three ways: 1. If all four locations are panicked the rangers lose. 2. If  rangers are defeated and no energy tokens remain, the rangers lose. 3.If rangers can defeat the boss card and survive, they win the game.
