Delivered: Ohsnap Phone Grip
“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment.
There is no shortage of options when it comes to phone accessories, but it seems I have finally found something that really “does it all”. The Ohsnap phone grip works with most existing phone cases and serves as a handle without the added bulk. You can pop it up for a kickstand or slip your finger into the slot for a firm grip. Other features include being compatible with wireless charging and works with your existing magnetic holders.
Creator Dale Backus noticed that most things we use for an extended period of time have one thing in common: a handle. So why don’t phones? While phone grips are not new, Dale wanted to solve a problem about existing phone grips: the bulk. Their ultra-thin shape prevents it from getting stuck in pockets or snagging on something but still offers all the features of a case, mount, stand and magnet. The grip is available with just a slide of your finger through the loop and the kickstand has three different angles that work for whatever you are using it for. Backus put Ohsnap on Kickstarter where it raised over $1.2 million dollars. The grip has since been redesigned to an even sleeker design.
The full rotation of the handle and the magnetic grip are the two most useful things to me. I’m able to snap it up on my fridge while making a recipe and it moves right along with me to avoid having to take my finger in and out of the hole (it’s the little things, right?).
The grip is made from aluminum, steel and silicone and nearly all phone sizes and cases. The installation is a bit more complicated than other phone grips, but the company does a great job at providing video tutorials.
