“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment”

Quokka Pockets are pants for women that have large functional pockets that you can store a phone in. The pants also come with belt loops and a lining to the knee to help prevent thigh chafe. The pants range in size to fit larger or smaller women. The sizes on the pants are based off of the actual measurements of your body. This is finally a pair of pants that women can use to give her all of the benefits of pants that men have.

The inspiration came for these pants because “women have been talking about wanting pockets for years. But because we, as a society, keep saying that a woman's aesthetic is more important than her ability to function comfortably, fashion keeps giving women fake pockets, or tiny pockets that slant into your crotch. We promise pockets big enough for the current generation of smartphones. That go down your leg. So you can carry your phone in your pants, rather than your bra. And it won't fall into the toilet when you sit down to go. All of our pockets are at least 9 inches deep and 6 inches wide--they do get a bit bigger in the larger sizes, but that's the minimum.”

The Quokka pants address a civil rights issue that affects women’s clothing. While men are able to have large pockets to fit their wallet and phone in, women have always had two inch deep pockets or ones that are not very accessible for everyday items. Men have always had the benefit of having pants that fit them perfectly, their pants are measured according to waist size and length while women at best have offered short or tall varieties along with general sizes. This differentiation shows that the fashion industry has not yet produced pants that cater to women in the way that men are being catered to. Quokka Pockets has set out to solve this problem and finally give women the comfort and equality that they deserve.

There are two different designs for the Quokka pants. One that is straight up and down and one that is curvy cut for pear or hourglass figures. The curvy Quokka has two elastic waistbands running down from the waist all the way to the ankle so that if you need a bit of stretch in your pants then you get it. They also contain a liner that is on the inside of the pants so that your pants don’t ride up or chaff your skin. There is even bespoke clothing that is offered that women can be measured to get perfectly fitting pants.
