Game On: The Crusoe Crew

AJ Porfirio is the award winning president of Van Ryder Games and the creator of the Crusoe Crew. He started Van Ryder Games in 2033 and has grown is from a two man company. AJ’s main goal as a game creator is to being players an experience that they will never forget. He has an affinity for solitaire games which led him to create the game hostage negotiator as his bestselling product. The Crusoe Crew was Van Ryder’s first ever cooperative Graphic Novel Adventures Game.
Van Ryder reached out to Kickstarter to launch their first Graphic Novel Adventure and were met with a big success. Within the first 24 hours the project was completely funded and then some. Van Ryder games posted updates every few days thought the campaign and highlighted more about the characters and shared some fun puzzles for the backers to do. They were successfully able to raise the funds for their game ending with $45,633 to print The Crusoe Crew.
In The Crusoe Crew players work together with the other players to explore islands, solve puzzles, and find rubies, pearls and statuettes that will allow you to buy items for the next play session. It is the first ever cooperative graphic novel adventures game. To play the game the readers all choose a book that goes with a specific character. The Characters all have their own personalities and skills that can add to the experience. Riddles and pitfalls are found in each one of the books. The players sit around the table together with their books and read them cooperatively to solve mysteries in the game.
The books can also be read and played solo. Each of the books are choose your own adventure so that the game can turn out differently each time that you play based on what you and your team mates choose. The game comes with a fold out map that can be used to mark locations of different items on the map. A box full of rubies, pearls, and plastic statues is also included to be used in the adventure. Each time that the group finds a treasure during the game you can take out one of the gems and add it to the box. The game has multiple islands to explore and there are many hours of enjoyment to be had from this single game.
