“Delivered:” is a series in which we look at crowdfunded ideas that have successfully shipped to their supporters. We dive into the final product, after its long journey from concept to fulfillment.

Outline Montreal has integrated art and technology to enhance your dance performance with the Sound Reactive LED mask. The Electro luminescent mask is for art and music lovers, but can also be enjoyed by anyone. The mask illuminates, and the lights move with the rhythm of the sound of music. It is perfect for parties, dance performances, costumes, decor, or even for a good laugh. We put on the mask, turned on music and had a good time for hours.

The mask is easy to put on, the velcro strap on the back makes it simple to connect to my face. The strap is padded and very comfortable, so it can be worn for long periods of time. There is a small box at the back that contains the battery. It is connected by a hidden circuit wire. Both of these items are lightweight, making the mask easy to wear.  The LED mask is powered by phosphorus ink paired with a lithium modulator. It converts sound waves into programmed patterns creating organic light. There is a layer of protective foam that shields the mask from my face.

The mask is lightweight, easily bendable and can fit into my pocket or bag. The colors on the mask are well printed. It responds well to music, and it is very mesmerizing. We found that while the masks work very well, that it is most responsive when the music is held closely to the mask, or at a loud volume. It is engineered so that the lights respond to the vibration of the music, or the sound of your voice.

You need to see this mask in action in order to fully appreciate it. A music video featuring this mask can be seen on kickstarter at the link below. Or you can view the full range of products at their website, Outline Montreal. I have completely loved being able to use it. It creates a lot of fun at dance parties, and is completely mesmerizing. The masks are now available in Jaguar, Fox, Obamask, Grizzlight, King, Duke, Wildcat, Y, Robot, Sugar SKull, Sugar Skull 2, Wolf, Venice, and Owl.
